Maine Water project to replace water main, some of which are more than 115 years old
Saco, Maine, Aug. 15, 2024 — Maine Water will replace 1,500 linear feet of water main along Seaside Avenue beginning in mid-August. The $900,000 investment in infrastructure will increase reliability and improve quality for customers in the area.
Existing water mains in the area are more than 100 years old, installed in about 1909. By proactively replacing aging water lines, customers benefit from improved water quality, increased flow of water for fire protection and enhanced reliability to the area. Proactively replacing lines also saves money over having to replace lines during an emergency.
Streets impacted by the project include Seaside Avenue, Sylvan Avenue, King Avenue, Ferry Park Avenue, Morris Avenue and Surf Street.
The project is scheduled to be complete in the fall.
