Annual Water Quality Reports Available for Maine Water Customers
SACO, Maine, June 28, 2023 — Maine Water’s latest water quality reports summarizing the results of the water quality tests conducted on Maine Water’s 18 water systems in 2022 are now available on the company’s website at mainewater.com/water-quality.
In addition to water quality test results, the reports provide information on the company’s water sources, source protection measures and Maine’s Drinking Water Program (DWP) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) state and federal standards for drinking water.
“Maine Water employees are committed to delivering safe, high-quality drinking water to our customers and communities. We know that water is one of life’s essentials and touches everything we care about,” said Mark Vannoy, president of Maine Water. “We encourage our customers to read their system’s water quality report to see the extensive water quality monitoring and testing performed throughout the year to ensure that they can have confidence in the quality of the water delivered to their taps 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
On average, Maine Water performs 110,000 water quality tests annually, testing on over 120 parameters that could affect the quality of drinking water. The company collects water samples at the source prior to treatment, during the treatment process, and in the distribution system. Samples are tested at state certified laboratories and submitted to Maine’s Drinking Water Program.
Maine Water also tests all of its water systems for PFAS (per-and polyflouroalkyl substances), as required by the DWP. The company is in full compliance with Maine’s interim limit for PFAS of 20 parts per trillion of each of its water sources. PFAS results are included in the annual water quality report.
